I agree with rcycling, but more would do it if they believed in it! anyone seen the documentary "Global Warming - The Great Swindle"? i would recommend watching this because it gives an alternative view on this. But all that said i think its good for people to recycle, when ever i have stuff i take it to Maryport Refuse Yard. But i for one is sick of hearing "reduce your carbon footprint!"

I have heard of that documentary too Captain and I will be looking out to watch it should I come across it. I personally think that "carbon footprint" appears to be the buzz word for the moment. It is constantly pushed in our faces by the media, when it is something alot of us are already very aware of. I also believe that the real issues that are important to people, like inflation, cost of living and the petrol prices at the moment are ignored by the people that are able to do anything about the real issues that effect people on an every day basis.

I missed that documentary when it was on, and i am wanting to see it because it gives the alternative view and if we are to look at things we should look at boths sides. I agree with recycling but it does seem like what resident said "tax the public" which i dont think we need any more tax imposed on us.

I read earlier that certain parts of the country are trying to promote people stopping using bottled water by getting them to go back to using tap water. This is apparently down to the amount of plastic bottles lying around landfill sites. I thought that most plastic bottles were recycled but apparently this is not the case. Apparently 15 million bottles of water are bought daily, each of these bottles takes up to 1000 years to biodegrade. On the whole I think this is a good idea, but then I sit back and think about the chemicals that are added to tap water. I know that occasionally I will get a drink of tap water and can smell chlorine so strongly before it settles/evaporates? its like being in the swimming baths. Its no wonder people are buying bottled water. We do not get a choice over what is added to our tap water, I believe that flouride is on the list of things to be added next to our tap water.
